Residence Inn Savannah Downtown/Historic District
We first stepped foot in Savannah in July of 2008. We arrived late at night, and spent a few hours the next morning wandering around River Street and visiting The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. We continued on to Hilton Head Island, which was our final destination, but we couldn’t stop thinking about Savannah ever since. There’s something so charming and romantic about a city whose streets are lined with oak trees draped with Spanish moss. Although we are not usually the kind of couple who celebrates Valentine’s Day, we decided to drive to the Georgia coast for a long weekend in mid-February of 2012. We used our Marriott Rewards Certificates to stay in downtown Savannah. On this trip we took our time learning about its historic squares, strolled down to Forsyth Park, and stopped by the vast Bonaventure Cemetery to see old and intriguing grave markers and crypts. We also had an interesting lunch at the Pirates’ House, which is adjoined to a small building that is believed to be the oldest house in Georgia. And since Tybee Island is only a short drive away from Savannah, we used this opportunity to check out the Tybee Island Light Station and Fort Pulaski National Monument.

I love Savannah as well! I’ve been twice and can’t wait to go back, even though I have to come from CA! Great pictures!

Yes, Savannah is a long way from CA! Have you been to any other cities/destinations in the South? We also love Charleston. BTW, I used to live in CA!
